Golden Nuggets

Golden Nuggets

UPDATE:  In a recent podcast we listened to they suggested “instead of reading 50 books in a year, why don’t you read 4-5 and master them so you can teach them to others?”  We thought this was pretty genius. Instead of forcing ourselves to speed-read or just get through content to achieve our goal, why don’t we find a few really great books and reread them over and over so that we are experts in the golden nuggets that that book is relaying.

So we’ve changed our objective.  Instead of reading 52 books each this year, we will still continue reading new content and enjoying reporting on our golden nuggets but we will combine our book list and focus more on mastering a few books so that we can learn them really well.

Follow along to see what we learn and possibly can teach you!

We have decided to challenge each other to a competition and you, our readers, can help decide the outcome. As you know, we have been gallivanting around the world for the last four months and have been limited to the weight we can carry on our backs. But since we both love to read, even if they are very different types of content, we’re usually carrying around with us at least 2-4 books at a time until we can swap them with others.
IMG_1230bSometimes we’ll read different books and sometimes we’ll both read the same book, but either way we will still give our own individual golden nuggets about the book. Sometimes we will read via hard copy, kindle, or audiobook. The whole point is getting our golden nugget out of the book, the one valuable piece of information we took away or great quote or how it related to our own personal lives.
We’ve always had the intention of reading a lot on our trip but haven’t necessarily made it a priority. So our competition is to see who can get to 52 BOOKS in 52 WEEKS starting from the beginning of our trip which makes our end date of February 13, 2016 … We have a lot of catching up to do!

Feel free to comment on what we should do if we both do not meet our goal or what we should do if either of us wins. Also we are open to your book suggestions or if you want to send us an electronic version of one of your favourite books.

Add us to Goodreads to follow our goals and ratings on each book. You can also see what books we’ve recently added to our lists that have peaked our curiosity. goodreads_f4-300x130
